Hickory, NC(August 18, 2009) -- Brennan Poole's 2009 season has seen it's share of ups and downs through his first twenty Late Model Stock Car starts since joining FatHead Racing in early March, but right now the young Texas native seems to be hitting his stride.

Through the first nine UARA-STARS Series starts of the 2009 season, Poole saw everything from strong top ten and top five runs to tire issues and even a black flag for jumping the start of the race, but never was able to complete them with a top ten finish. With all the bad luck and unfortunate circumstances hopefully behind him, the young driver headed into an eight day stretch with back to back UARA-STARS Series races at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, NC and Myrtle Beach Speedway

Poole Collects Second Top Ten Finish at Myrtle Beach

in Myrtle Beach, SC and the young driver was poised to break out of his mid-season slump.

The biggest issue that Poole has faced this season has been tires, whether it's been the almost on going saga of the new Goodyear tire that the series has been on or cut tires in a couple races this season, but that seems to have been erased recently. Goodyear went back to the drawing board to make a better more consistent tire and that has helped ease Poole's mind in the last two races where the series has seen no tire issues.

Poole went into the race at Ace Speedway simply looking to get through the race at one of the toughest tracks on the UARA-STARS tour and hopefully get a top ten finish. He qualified 9th and looked to have strong car capable of contending for a top ten finish and in the end of the 150-lap race, Poole took home his first top ten with an eighth place finish among a stout field of cars.

Poole's next step would be to tackle the always tough Myrtle Beach Speedway and for this race the youngster would have to first keep his tires in good shape on the old wore out South Carolina asphalt so that he could race for positions near the end of the race. However, Poole's weekend would be turned upside down right from the start on Friday as his car owner, Jamie Yelton, a fellow racer himself would be involved in a car crash on the way to the track.

Yelton and one of the teams crew members were on the way to the track when they lost control of the truck they were in and rolled it several times. Yelton and the crew member only sustained minor injuries, but the incident left Poole's team short handed on Saturday for the race. Poole and his team found themselves struggling a little without Yelton at the track, but despite that, the teams crew chief, David King had the car tuned up and running strong.

Poole was among the top ten in both practice sessions, but when it came time to qualify the young driver backed up his practice times, but it seemed that much of the field had picked up a little and Poole would start 19th. Poole's starting position would become less of an issue as the green flag dropped the young driver quickly began picking up positions one at a time.

By the end of the race, Poole found himself in a battle for position with the series season wins leader and a driver, who races locally at Myrtle Beach and has won the track championship there twice. Poole came home with an eighth place effort despite all of the weekends adversity and picked up a ton of points in his quest to become this season rookie of the year.

"We picked up a bunch of points out there tonight with the passing points and I had a lot of fun out there on this track," said Poole. "This is the kind of track where you can really race for position and not beat and bang on one another and I really enjoyed the racing. To get my second straight top ten was important, now we've got to get our third and continue moving up the ladder and get a top five soon."

Poole's crash course in Late Model Stock Car racing will continue this week as he heads to Newport Speedway on Thursday to test for next weekend's UARA-STARS Series race and the young driver will compete in a weekly race at the track on Friday night, August 21st to further prepare for the tour race.
