Dillon, SC(June 3, 2009) -- After collecting his first win just three weeks ago at Tri-County Motor Speedway it's been a roller coaster ride for Brennan Poole and Saturday night at Dillon Motor Speedway was full of highs and lows.

The weekend started off with Poole jumping onto the tight 4/10 mile track with no experience there and clocking the fastest time in Friday testing. Then on Saturday afternoon in the first round of practice he backed it up with the second fastest speed after being the fastest for much of the one hour session. The final practice of the day rolled around and Poole wasn't going to be outdone, he laid down the fastest time of the weekend pacing the second practice.

Poole was riding high and looked to be poised to

grab his first career pole despite his best qualifying effort being a 13th in both the last two races. Poole went out and laid down a scorching fast time of 16.168 as the second car to hit the track, he paced qualifying until another driver went out with just a couple of cars to go and turned a 16.138, just three-hundredths of a second faster than Poole. That bumped Poole to the outside pole, but still 11 positions better than his previous best qualifying effort.

That left Poole and the FatHead Racing team led by driver coach, Jamie Yelton and crew chief, David King pumped up for the start of the race. All the momentum they had gained would be wiped away on the start of the race as the pole sitter spun his tires and allowed Poole to get ahead drawing the attention of the UARA officials.

The UARA race director decided to black flag Poole for jumping the start and despite talking with the officials and actually giving the position back on the track and dropping back to third, they continued to force Poole to pit road. The team was visibly upset on pit road arguing their point with the officials, but not Poole, who calmly made his way down pit road.

Poole remained calm and returned to the track on the lead lap, but just ahead of the leaders, but in order to keep himself on the lead lap he had his work cut out for him. Poole not only remained ahead of the leaders until the first caution, but began to pull away from them showing he certainly had the best car on the track. The first caution came and Poole found himself at the tail end of the field, but still on the lead lap for the restart, but passing in a Late Model Stock Car is easier said than done.

Poole restarted and quickly began passing cars, one by one, he made the move by cars moved into the top fifteen, then the top ten. The young Texas native then set his sights on the top ten and everyone in racing knows the closer you get to the front the harder it gets to pass the cars ahead of you. Poole defied all odds as he continued to just roll by everyone until he was inside the top five.

Poole wasn't ready to stop at fifth as on a late restart with just over 30 laps to go, he began to make his move underneath the fourth place car and as he was racing along side for the position his car began to develop a skip in the engine. Poole was still making his move and still had position on fourth when he shut the car off and headed to pit road.

Poole's night was done, but everyone in attendance was in awe of what the 18-year old driver had done in just his 13th start in a Late Model Stock Car on asphalt after a career in Legends cars and on dirt in USMTS Modifieds. Poole made his mark on the UARA-STARS Late Model Stock Car Series at Dillon and the experience has left him poised to continue the upward trend into his next race.

"We were certainly disappointed with not being able to finish the race at Dillon," said Poole following the race. "Jamie(Yelton), David(King) and the crew gave me a good car."

After all his hard work and after a weekend full of cellar lows and roller coaster highs, Poole was credited with a 17th place finish. It certainly wasn't what the young driver was looking for, but the night gave him plenty of experience in passing cars and proved to everyone in attendance that this kid is the real deal.
