Hudson, NC(May 12, 2009) -- Only a handful of people including all the members of the FatHead Racing team were at Hickory Motor Speedway to witness 17-year old, Brennan Poole test a Late Model Stock Car for the first time.

Very few of them knew the kind of talent, they were in the presence of, but after twin 35-lap features at Tri-County on Friday night, there's no doubt that Poole has arrived in the ultra-competitive world of Late Model Stock Car racing. Poole started from the outside pole for the first race of the night and after quickly discarding of the pole sitter, he set sail into first place and never looked back.

The win came in only Poole's eighth start in a full bodied asphalt stock car and was also the first win for FatHead Racing and team owner, Jamie Yelton. Yelton was excited to score his first win as a car owner and like many thinks Poole has a bright future ahead of him.

"He's "THE REAL DEAL" and when we got the car right Friday night, and he got a little experience, he showed his talent," said a very proud Yelton. "He listens, he let me and David King his crew chief help him and that has made his transition from dirt to these cars almost seamless."

Yelton feels that Poole will only get better and knows that Late Model Stock Car racing isn't easy and they must keep focused in order to accomplish their goals.

"We've got to stay focused and I just have to be careful and make sure Brennan remembers this isn't easy, because he's going to get better and better, but so will the

competition. We've not really turned him loose yet, we've got the reigns pretty tight and when we let him go full throttle it might be real scary."

Yelton, who has been a consistent contender himself for years in the Late Model Stock Car ranks, aside from being Poole's car owner is also the young wheel man's driver coach, and he couldn't help, but to be really proud on Friday night.

"The only reason I do this is to win races, period. It felt as good as if I had won the race myself, and it's a good feeling to win with a rookie with this much talent," concluded Yelton.

The Woodlands, Texas driver was also very happy with his progression and the victory on Friday night.

"We qualified better than we had and that helped a lot," said Poole. "Tri-County is all about track position, and we started on the outside of the front row. We moved into the lead early and just pulled away, and it was an awesome feeling."

Poole, who isn't real superstitious, said that he had to think about the way things turned out.

"It was May 8th, race number eight for me and I was driving number eight ... the stars kind of aligned for us. We just got it right in both races and were just a little too tight in the second race, or I think we could have pulled it off too, but I'll take second on a night like that."

"It's pretty awesome; it's incredible to win a race this quick. I owe a lot to David(King) my crew chief and Jamie(Yelton), they have given me everything I need to make this happen and I finally made them proud Friday night with two impressive runs."

Poole's career is certainly on an upward trend since jumping behind the wheel of the FatHead Racing Chevrolet Impala, but Poole has been impressive since the first time he got behind the wheel of quarter midgets where he was the Quarter Midget Grand National Champion in 2002. Poole has had great success in every type of car he's ever driven from Legends cars, where he was Pro National Champion's Champion in 2006, to dirt Modifieds, and has raced and won on 47 different tracks in 18 states. He is now trying to further his career on asphalt, and he's making a name for himself fast.

Many of today's NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Truck Series drivers came up through Late Model Stock Cars including Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Denny Hamlin, Jeff Burton, Steven Wallace, Mike Skinner, Dennis Setzer and others and Poole is hoping to take the same path to success that most recently has worked for Matt DiBenedetto, Darrell Wallace, Jr. and Aric Almirola.

"I compare him to Matt DiBenedetto, they look similar, act similar and drive a lot alike and I think he can find his way onto a top team as well. He's certainly got the talent, and I think someone will take notice, I mean he's the only kid I know who won one of these races in only eight starts. That's got to be some kind of record," concluded Yelton.

Poole knows that now that he's got the first win out of the way, he's got to dig in a little deeper and start putting himself in contention week in and week out.

"We're pumped. I'm really excited that my next race will be the next UARA tour race at Tri-County. Heading back there will give us a lot of confidence and I think we can be a threat. I'm more comfortable in the car and now the team has more confidence in me, and I have more confidence in myself."

Poole knows this journey isn't going to be an easy one and expects himself and his team to show up at the race track ready to wage war every week.

"We need to be in a position to win races every week and I know the equipment is there and my team has been giving me everything I need. You have to have luck and everything has to fall your way to win these things, everyone is good, and we just have to be better. I'm still picking this stuff up, and we're going to have those days when we hit everything right and those days are going to come more often."

Poole won't be in action this weekend as he will take some time off and go back home to his hometown of The Woodlands, TX before getting ready to strap into the car again on Friday, May 22nd for the fourth round of the UARA-STARS Late Model Stock Car tour. Poole wants to carry his momentum from his win on Friday into this race to improve his position in points and put himself back in the hunt for the series Rookie of the Year award.

"We've been building up momentum with better runs on the tour and then a third last week at Tri-County and the win and the second place on Friday, and I think we can have that same kind of results when we hit the track for the tour race next Friday night. I want to crawl back up in the points and at least try to contend for the Rookie of the Year; that's our goal right now."
